2nd Woman Attacked Near Big Red Wagon

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 23-year-old woman said a man tried to rape her early Saturday morning near the Big Red Wagon in Riverfront Park.

The attack came less than a month after a 15-year-old girl told Spokane police she was raped in the same area.

Police said they don’t know whether the attacks are related.

In Saturday’s incident, the woman said a man jumped out at her as she walked near the wagon at 2:30 a.m. She told police he forced her to the ground, hit her in the face with his fist several times and partially choked her. She tried to escape by hitting and kicking him, police said.

The man attempted to pull off her jeans and became angry when he was unable to do so, police said. The victim told police her attacker hit her several more times and ran south across Spokane Falls Boulevard, the victim told police.

The woman suffered abrasions on her face and swelling. She described the man as white and dirty, with a shaved head. He was wearing an Army-style jacket.

No arrests have been made in either incident, police said. , DataTimes
