Beers Is Top Cowboy

Mike Beers of Powell Butte, Ore., won his third all-round title at the Pendleton Round-Up, finishing second in calf-roping and third in steer roping.

The title goes to the cowboy who wins the most money in two or more events. Beers, 39, collected $10,181.39 at the 87th annual rodeo.

Individual champions were: Mark Nugent of Water Valley, Alberta (calf roping); Jim Davis of Abilene, Texas (steer roping); Rope Myers of Van, Texas (steer wrestling); Kelly Wardell of Bellevue, Idaho (bareback riding); Ryan Mapston of Arlee, Mont. (saddle bronc riding); and Hank Reece of Prineville, Ore. (bull riding).
