Surprised Burglars Rob Homeowner

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane County woman was robbed Monday when she interrupted a burglary at her home, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 72-year-old woman entered a side door to her home in the 5300 block of South Regal about 3 p.m. Monday, deputies said.

A man grabbed her, pulled a sheet over her head and said, “Don’t look at me.” Then he threw her to the floor, deputies said. She was not injured.

He and another man took cash from her purse and grabbed some jewelry. They drove off in her car, which was discovered about 9 p.m., abandoned outside Futon Gallery, 6325 E. Sprague.

The vehicle was impounded and examined for fingerprints, deputies said.

The thieves are described only as white, in their 30s or 40s.
