He’s There Anyway, So Poffenroth Adds Title Of CV Events Manager
Dale Poffenroth has assumed another responsibility at Central Valley High School.
The Bears girls basketball and cross country coach now carries the title of school events manager.
The administrative position is responsible for overseeing site preparations and crowd control for school activities.
“I don’t know if the hours are more, but will the stress be more?” said Poffenroth. “As far as fall, if we had a football game, I was here anyway. At volleyball, I kept score.”
During the winter he is at his daughter’s gymnastics meets. He’ll add wrestling match appearances.
“There’s not a whole lot added, except maybe first-period problem solving,” said Poffenroth, who has first period as school preparation.
Poffenroth replaces Bruce Wendleberg, who retired.
His basketball teams have finished first, second, third and fourth twice at state. He also had a state cross country placing team.
And now he’s gaining first-hand administrative experience.
“I got my credentials 20 years ago,” said Poffenroth. “Then I hooked up with (then CV basketball coach) Jack Blair and started having fun.”
Rich get richer
Three-time state cross country champion East Valley unveiled its latest star to go with a wealth of veteran talent.

Her time, which placed second in her flight, was five seconds faster than four-year veteran Ann Marie Adams.
Frostad’s twin sister Melissa was a flight winner whose 12:40 time was not far behind.
