Police Seek Sex Offender

Police are searching for a high-risk sex offender who has failed to register in Spokane County.

Darin A. Putnam, 36, is wanted for a probation violation and failing to register as a sex offender, a felony. He has served time in prison for molesting a 10-year-old girl and assaulting an 8-year-old girl, police said.

He has been seen watching children at a north Spokane park from his white 1980 Datsun two-door car with Washington license plate 004 GED, police said.

Putnam is described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a snake tattoo on one arm.

State Department of Corrections officials warn that Putnam is an opportunistic offender. He has been known to befriend families with young children.
