Wrangling Over Rodman’s Contract Enters New Phase After Rebuff By Nba
Dennis Rodman’s idea of being paid according to how he behaves has been shot down by the NBA as the wrangling continues over the star forward’s future with the Chicago Bulls.
Tuesday, the NBA overruled Rodman’s offer to play for a salary based on his performance, his agent said, and debate again centered on how much salary should be guaranteed.
Rodman signed a guaranteed one-year, $9 million contract last season and wants to be paid about $10 million for the upcoming season.
He originally proposed that the club pay him nothing in advance, instead putting the $10 million in escrow until after the season. If he was suspended, he wouldn’t be paid.
But the Bulls want to guarantee only two-thirds of that because of concerns about Rodman’s conduct.
