Improvement Approved For Yosemite Park Road
Work will begin in December to upgrade El Portal Road in Yosemite National Park, based on a federal finding that construction will not endanger wildlife.
The project, estimated to cost $20 million to $30 million, will expand on repairs made after January floods that eroded chunks of the road.
El Portal Road, also known as Highway 140, will remain open to vehicles with some periods of restricted access. Keeping the road open is crucial to businesses in neighboring communities.
