Boise State Gets First Win, Defeating Weber State 24-7 WSU’s Next Opponent: Boise State At Pullman
Junior Todd Belcastro kicked three field goals and the Boise State defense limited Weber State to 97 yards rushing as the Broncos defeated the Wildcats 24-7 in a non-conference game Saturday night.
Belcastro kicked field goals of 18 and 44 yards in the opening quarter and matched his personal best with a 47-yarder in the final quarter as Boise State posted its first victory under head coach Houston Nutt.
Belcastro’s first two field goals gave the Broncos a 6-0 lead before the Wildcats (1-2) responded with a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Steve Buck to wide receiver Taurus McGhee for a short-lived 7-6 lead with 1:14 left in the opening period.
Boise State took a permanent lead just before halftime on a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nate Sparks to wide receiver Shaunard Harts, giving the Broncos a 13-7 lead.
Boise State (1-3) increased the lead to 21-7 on a 6-yard touchdown run by Gavin Reed.
