From Staff And Wire Reports

An injured climber stranded overnight on Mount Washington in the central Oregon Cascades was rescued Sunday, the Linn County sheriff’s office reported.

Jim Avery, 46, of Portland was among four climbers descending the mountain Saturday when he fell about 10 feet and broke his ankle, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The accident occurred at about 7,300 feet.

About 40 people from Corvallis Mountain Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service, Jefferson and Linn county search and rescue teams, and the Mazamas climbing club assisted in the rescue, the sheriff’s office said.
