World War Ii Bomb Detonated In Russia
A man preparing to build a house for himself unearthed a 550-pound aerial bomb from World War II on Monday in the central Russian city of Voronezh.
Bomb experts had to blow up the explosive on site because its detonator was rusted almost all the way through and the bomb could not be moved, said Alexander Svistovtsev, an Emergency Situations Ministry official in Voronezh.
The ITAR-Tass news agency said the bomb was the largest of seven World War II aerial bombs found and deactivated in Russia this year.
Voronezh is about 300 miles south of Moscow.
