German Inflation Calm; Dollar Rises

The dollar rose against other major currencies Tuesday, hitting a two-week high against the mark on early signs of benign German inflation before giving up some of the gains.

Trading was quiet as Japanese markets were closed for a national holiday and no major economic data was available to give the market guidance.
