House Could Have Debate On Funding, Says Armey

New York Times

A day after Senate leaders agreed to debate campaign finance legislation this fall, House Majority Leader Rep. Dick Armey, R-Texas, said the House would also consider a similar bill this year.

He said the timing and the substance of the House bill were still undecided.

The compromise bill, the main campaign finance legislation in Congress now, would ban “soft money,” unregulated contributions that political parties can use for get-out-the-vote campaigns and other generic activities.
