Residents Raise Concern Pud Will Overburden Indian Trail Road

Eleven homes in the planned unit development will have driveways directly onto Pacific Park Drive. The others will access Pacific Park through a private road.

Most of the houses will back onto an open space that will serve as a common back yard and allow drainage.

Sewer, water and other utilities have already been installed and will be privately maintained.

“It is a good alternative to the single family neighborhoods that I designed out there for 30 years,” Cameron said.

Neighbors are concerned that the housing project, combined with the proposed 59-unit apartment building proposed across the street, and other developments planned in the community, will overburden Indian Trail Road.

Indian Trail Road widening plans now call only for the addition of center turn pockets.

“Frankly, it’s not going to improve,” said Cameron.

City planner Andrew Worlock said School District 81, which is already busing students out of the neighborhood because of classroom overcrowding, was notified of the proposed project, but he didn’t submit comments.

Hearing Examiner Greg Smith, noting that he received about a dozen letters opposing the project, is allowing residents to submit comments through Friday.

He will announce his decision within two weeks.
