Friday night horse racing at Playfair Race Course has been canceled for the duration of the season because of what officials characterized as insufficient wagering.

Racing will continue on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings.

Director of racing Ted Martin announced that remaining cards will be expanded to include 10 races, rather than eight. Ten races, all with eight or more entries, have been scheduled for Saturday. Post time will be 5:05 p.m.

M’s tickets going on sale

The Seattle Mariners will put a limited number of American League divisional playoff tickets on sale beginning Saturday at 10 a.m.

Tickets for the first two games of the best-of-5 series against Baltimore, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in the Kingdome, can be purchased only in person at Ticketmaster outlets or at the Kingdome box office.

In Spokane, tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at the following Payless stores: 10722 E. Sprague; 7714 N. Division; 112 N. Howard; and 4514 S. Regal.

There is a limit of four tickets per person. Prices are $10, $22 and $34.
