Patrick Rafter advanced to the semifinals of the Grand Slam Cup in Munich, Germany, with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-0) win over Marcelo Rios.

Petr Korda also reached the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Cedric Pioline.

Martina Hingis and defending champion Anke Huber of Germany breezed to easy victories at the $450,000 Leipzig Open in Leipzig, Germany.

Hingis topped Belgium’s Sabine Appelmans 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semifinals.

Huber made it to the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Spain’s Magui Serna.
