Three Men Rob Elderly Woman

From Staff And Wire Reports

Three men robbed an elderly South Hill resident and her daughter-in-law at gunpoint Thursday, Spokane police said.

The robbery occurred at a house in the 400 block of East 26th.

The 72-year-old victim, who reportedly has Alzheimer’s disease, let the men in the house just before 10 a.m., police Cpl. Joel Fertakis said.

Once inside, two of the robbers pulled out pistols and ordered the resident, her 45-year-old daughter-in-law and the younger woman’s toddler to sit on a living room couch, Fertakis said.

One of the robbers held a gun on the family while the other two went through the house stealing jewelry and personal checks, Fertakis said.

No one was hurt.

The bandits drove away in a rust-colored Chevrolet van with Washington license plate 158-GHY.

The victims told police they didn’t know the robbers, Fertakis said, but neighbors reported seeing the van parked in front of the house on several other occasions.

It was the second time in past two weeks that an elderly woman was robbed in her home.

Another 72-year-old resident was robbed Sept. 16 after she surprised two men burglarizing her house on South Regal. Those bandits are still at large. , DataTimes
