Studded Tires Legal In Idaho This Week
Studded snow tires will be legal in Idaho beginning Wednesday, the Idaho Transportation Department said.
The traction devices - tires with metal cleats embedded into the tread - will be legal until April 15, 1998, the department said.
The periods during which studded tires are legal vary in neighboring states. Montana and Nevada also will begin allowing studded tires Wednesday; they become legal in Utah on Oct. 15 and on Nov. 1 in Oregon and Washington.
Utah requires drivers to remove the studded tires by March 31, the earliest of the six states. Montana allows the traction devices until May 31, the latest of those states.
Wyoming allows studded tires all year. , DataTimes
