Plane Crash Kills Three Cessna Hits Hillside Near Moses Lake

Associated Press

A single-engine plane from Canada crashed into the north face of Saddle Mountain Tuesday, killing all three people aboard, authorities said.

The Cessna 210 had just left Moses Lake for Boardman, Ore., when it crashed shortly before 10 a.m., said Lee Fryer of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The three victims were apparently all from British Columbia. They were identified as Jordy Howell, Terry Maial and Jo Franje, whose ages and hometowns were not immediately available.

The plane was owned by Bigfoot Motor Homes of Armstrong, British Columbia, and at least one of the victims, Maial, apparently worked for the company.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will begin investigating the cause today.

Sheriff’s deputies said a feedlot employee near Royal City reported hearing the crash shortly before 10 a.m., but the crash site, about 25 miles south of Moses Lake, was not located until about 3:30 p.m. because of heavy fog, officials said. It was not known if fog was a factor in the crash.
