WSU Standout Struts His Stuff For Pro Scouts
Washington State’s Carlos Daniel will have an opportunity to display his basketball skills this week at the 45th Annual Portsmouth (Va.) Invitational Tournament.
Daniel, of Louisville, Colo., is one of 64 college seniors invited to perform today through Sunday for numerous scouts from the National Basketball Association, the Continental Basketball Association and professional international leagues.
“It’s a big opportunity to show (scouts) exactly what I can do,” said the 6-foot-7, 245-pound power forward. “It’s important to show them things I do well and do them even better. I have to go out and play my game the best I can.”
This season, Daniel was the only Pacific-10 Conference player to average a double-double. He led the league in rebounding (10.1 per game) and topped the Cougars in scoring (16.1).
Daniel is the third Cougar this decade to attend the Portsmouth Invitational, joining Terrence Lewis (1992) and Bennie Seltzer (1993).
