Two Valley Teams Are Five-A-Side Age-Group Champions

Two youth soccer teams from the Valley earned age-group championships recently in the Washington State Youth Soccer Association Five-A-Side Tournament.

IN-Flames took first place in the U-13 Girls Select competition. Falcons Red took first in U-16 Boys Select play. Eleven other Valley teams earned trophies and ribbons with top-four finishes.

Teams in the U-13 through U-19 age divisions played at Spokane Falls Community College. In all, the two-weekend tournament attracted nearly 400 teams from around the region.

Top tournament finishers from the Valley in divisional play were: IN-Flames, first in U-13 Girls Select. Team members include: Breanne Hatcher, Celeste Wagner, Brittany Baynes, Melissa Kochendorfer, Sarah Robinson, Hannah Daugherty, Charlene Gannon and Jill Giroux.

Flames, second in U-13 Girls Select. Team members include: Rikki Covey, Julie Hinkemeyer, Jody Scott, Susie Coooper, Anna Howard, Anjuli Brady, Amanda Craig and Kelsey Grover.

Scotties, third in U-13 Girls Select. Team members include: Courtney Bolding, Stacey Peterson, Kendra Smith, Rachael Bauer, Lindsey Hagen, Katie Whittaker, Amy Rathbun and Emily Chadwick.

Spokane Valley Black Flash, second in U-16 Girls Select. Team members include: Brynne Boltyes, Rae Jewell, Jann Danelo, Jesse Torres, Brianne Scott, Michelle Tidd, Tasha Warwick and Kara Jordan.

Spokane Valley White Flash, third in U-16 Girls Select. Team members include: Tierra Como, Lacie Dohake, Liz Hale, Wren Moore, Kris Perry, Lori Reymer, Emily Squire and Cherie Walser.

Ice-Ice Baby, third in U-19 Girls Select. Team members include: Megan Black, Julie Schroeder, Casey Lektorich, Alicia Crow, Liz Gray, Juliana Koehler and Sara Nelson.

Flames Black, second in U-14 Boys Select. Team members include:Ross Browner, Modie Curtis, Bret Hite, Ryan Hite, Kirk Jones, Mark Minarik, Brett Nesteand Eric Schnibbe.

Steelers, fourth in U-15 Boys Select. Team members include: Bryce Bergheim, Jason King, Charlie Marley, Bryan Nearing, Rob Peck, Matt Pegram, Josh Sutherlandand Chaz Valdez.

Falcons Red, first in U-16 Boys Select. Team members include: Shaun Wilson, Kevin Aronson, Evan Cummings, Keane Sweet, Nate Lopez, Matt Balmes, Eric Kinyon and Filman Afenegus.

Falcons Black, fourth in U-16 Boys Select. Team members include: Matt Brown, Nathan Campbell, Tyler Falco, Kam Murphy, Josh Nelsonand Scott Tarbutton.

Just-A-Kick, second in U-17 Boys Select. Team members include: Mike Balcom, Josh Kane, Chad Hanson, Stuart Cameron, Travis Johnson, Krystian Nyland and Andy Cooper.

Lazers, second in U-19 Boys Select. Team members include: Paul Hatcher, Randy Pratt, Than Bowie, Tyler Denton, Troy Ready, Rawley Doggert, Scott Kerwein and Kevin Mace.
