These Garments Should Not Shrink

Q. I washed my Lowe Alpine Guide Jacket - and it shrank! I washed it properly and dried it at a very low heat. Does Gore-Tex material also shrink, or is it just with this Triple Point Ceramic. Supposedly by drying these garments on low heat, you spread out the durable water-repellent coating. Will this happen when I wash my Gore-Tex clothing?

Gear Guy: In a word, Michael: Holy cow! OK that’s two words, but the point is the same. It shrank ?!? Really? That’s amazing. I’ve washed several Gore-Tex and Lowe garments over the years and never seen that. And it certainly should not have happened. It’s mostly nylon-based, not cotton. I’d call Lowes customer service folks at (303) 465-3706 and have a chat.
