Dollar Rises Against Yen, Mark
The dollar rose against the yen Monday as investors abandoned fears that Japan would intervene to boost its currency for the third straight session.
The yen’s rise boosted the dollar against the German mark in thin trading as most of Europe’s financial trading was closed for Easter Monday.
“London is the biggest center in foreign exchange trading,” said Margaret Kudarauskas, a senior foreign exchange analyst at Technical Data in Boston. “When it closes, it does thin out the market a great deal.”
