Kokanee Low At Loon, Deer

Loon Lake pleased many anglers with nice catches of large kokanee last year, but neither Loon Lake nor Deer Lake is expected to produce outstanding fishing for kokanee this season.

Glenn Biddle, operator of the Granite Point Resort at Loon, said he believes the kokanee population in that popular lake is much smaller than normal.

Experienced kokanee anglers, he said, will catch fish, but those who fish only occasionally for kokanee likely will have problems.

Kokanee fishing has been poor at Deer Lake for several years, but those caught usually are large, many over 15 inches long.
