Still an excellent teacher
“Moran Prairie teacher puts emphasis on reading.” (South Side Voice, April 2)
Congratulations to Diane Cadagan for being named a District 81 distinguished teacher for the third quarter. She is an excellent teacher today, just as she was 21 years ago when she was my second-grade teacher at Indian Trail Elementary School.
Thanks, Mrs. Cadagan, you made a difference in my life. Wendy Nickoloff Miller Cheney
Maybe Rockwood should be arterial
In response to the article in the South Side Voice (April 9) concerning the “speeding” problem in and around the Rockwood area and the possible fixes, I have this to say: Good luck.
As it turns out, Rockwood Boulevard is the only direct route from the South Hill to downtown. Twenty-ninth Avenue is good if you want to get from farmland to a really big cliff, and Grand is a 20-mph, stoplight-infested mess.
Being a resident of the Rockwood area, I agree that something needs to be done, however I think that Rockwood should become an arterial because frankly I don’t see many residential streets marked down the center with double yellow lines.
It has been suggested that speed bumps be put in to get people to slow down. This obviously will not work because everybody on the South Hill already owns an SUV, which are claimed to be able to scale the walls of the Grand Canyon at 65 mph without spilling any coffee.
In fact I believe that speed bumps would be a drastic improvement over the numerous potholes that plague the South Hill, which in my opinion is the real problem facing this community, not the appropriate use of city streets. Eric J. Schaffer Spokane
