Column stirred-up some anger
I would like to respond to the column written by Mary Jane Honegger (“The Front Porch,” Valley Voice, April 9).
For some reason, her article evoked anger in me. I guess because my philosophy is “Clean up your own back yard and don’t worry about others.”
Mary Jane, let me give you a piece of advice. The world’s comings and goings are entirely dependent upon the power of perception.
What is wrong with a small, dingy American flag? I perceive it as a symbol of freedom. The person who hung it is obviously proud to be an American, proud to have the freedom to decorate or undecorate his castle as he chooses.
She suggests we adopt a decorating rule that all holiday decorations must be removed two weeks following any holiday.
Does this woman have a control problem?
I suggest Mary Jane deliver hot meals to the homebound elderly while she’s out tooling around policing homes for dingy decorations. Leanne Foster Greenacres
