Four Youths Arrested After Attack
Four Spokane youths were arrested Monday after allegedly attacking a boy in north Spokane with a baseball bat, police said.
The unidentified boys, ages 12, 13, 14, and 15, were being held in the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center, each charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
The boys are suspected in the beating of a 14-year-old at Chief Garry Park, near Mission and Regal.
A group was playing basketball at the park about 8 p.m. Monday when the boys walked up and were invited to play, police said.
Instead, one of them hit a boy in the face and knocked him to the ground. They then began kicking him, and one teen hit him with a baseball bat, police said.
The unidentified boy suffered a concussion, bruised ribs and facial cuts. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
Officers were called to the scene, interviewed the boys and arrested them.
