Boy Charged With Drive-By Shooting

A 17-year-old Spokane boy was arrested early Sunday after a shot was fired into a residence on South Greene.

No one was injured in the shooting, which broke a window in the home.

An officer heard the shot about 4 a.m., then saw three cars speeding in the area. The cars were stopped near 17th and Ray. All of the occupants were under the age of 21.

A 9 mm handgun was found under the seat of one car, along with a loaded magazine and numerous open beer bottles, police said.

As one of the boys got out of the car, a 9 mm round dropped from his lap. He was later identified by a witness as the shooter, police said.

He was booked into juvenile detention for drive-by shooting, a felony.

The five other males were cited for being minors in possession of alcohol and released. They were: Dennis Martin, 20, of Coeur d’Alene; Travis Ashby, 19, of Ford, Wash.; Arnold Daniels, 18, of Coeur d’Alene; and a 15-year-old from Spokane and a 16-year-old from Plummer, Idaho.
