Egghead.Com Forms Two New Alliances
Egghead.com has announced agreements with TheGlobe.com and Infobeat.com to expand its efforts to market computer products on the Internet.
Based in New York, TheGlobe.com is an online service with 1.3 million members that offers personal homepage building tools, chat rooms, and links to other retailers such as Barnes and Noble bookstores and CDNow.
InfoBeat, which delivers three million email messages per day to its subscribers, is building a marketplace page that will include links to Egghead.com, Amazon.com, and the Wall Street Journal.
Earlier this year, Egghead.com announced marketing partnerships with GeoCities, CNET, Yahoo! and USA.Net.
In January, Egghead decided to close its remaining retail stores, lay off 800 people, and switch its business solely to the Internet. The company now employs about 50 people in Spokane.
