Family Needs Help Finding Their Stolen Pickup Truck
Patty Wilson saved for a year to buy an old white pickup truck for her teenage son, Casey.
Her two young daughters gave up their allowances - even their Christmas gifts - to help raise the needed $1,400.
But on April 24, someone stole the truck from their lower South Hill home.
As a result, South Side commuters may have noticed a new addition along Cedar Street and 12th Avenue this week.
The family posted several large signs in their yard, asking strangers to help them find the truck.
“I’m hurt and I’m angry,” said Wilson. “Whoever did this can go out and work for it themselves if they want it.”
The truck had been parked on Cedar since April 21. Wilson said it was there when she went to bed at 10 p.m. April 23. It was gone when she stepped onto her porch with a cup of coffee the next morning.
“I just about died,” she said. “I noticed it right away.”
The truck is a white 1965 Chevy pickup, license number 34712Z.
While many cars slow to read the signs, Wilson said there haven’t been any tips so far.
The theft has been reported to police and to the COPS Southwest station, but there are no leads.
Her son will move to Spokane from Arizona in June, when he graduates from high school, she said. The family wanted to give him the truck when he got here so he could find a job.
“If it were just mine, it wouldn’t matter so much,” she said. “But we worked really hard to get that truck for him.”
