Fountain, Johnson Propel Lc

Kaylene Fountain and Jenica Johnson had run-scoring triples as Lewis and Clark (7-6, 7-5) topped host Rogers 5-1 Wednesday to pass the Pirates for fourth place in Greater Spokane League softball.

Johnson added a double and went 3 for 4. Jamie Merrill fanned six and Angel Fairbanks had an RBI double for Rogers (6-6, 6-5).

Amber Carter’s two-out, two-run double in the seventh gave North Central (3-10, 3-9) a 4-3 win over visiting Central Valley (4-10, 3-9).

Gabby McClintock (6-1) pitched one- and two-hitters as host West Valley (12-2, 7-2) swept Cheney 5-0, 2-0 in the Frontier League.

WV’s Kristy Alberts had two RBIs in the opener and a sacrifice fly in the second. Cheney is 4-8, 2-5.

Tricia Stookey had four hits and four RBIs as visiting East Valley (9-2, 4-2) swept Clarkston 13-1, 12-1.

EV’s Malea Schumacher and Becky Musgrave had five hits apiece. The Bantams are 3-5, 0-4.
