Robbery, Attempted Robbery Investigated

From Staff Reports

The FBI is investigating the robbery of one Spokane bank and the attempted heist of another this week.

The robbery occurred Wednesday at the Wells Fargo branch at 1400 N. Hamilton.

Witnesses said a man wearing dark sunglasses and a red baseball cap walked into the branch about 9:40 a.m. and demanded money.

Tellers handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, which the man grabbed before running away.

He didn’t show a weapon.

The bandit was described as white, in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall, with short, sandy-blond hair.

The attempted robbery took place Tuesday at the Washington Trust Bank branch, 611 E. 31st.

Witnesses said a nervous-looking man walked into the bank about 10:15 a.m. and told a teller he wanted money. He did not show a weapon.

The teller placed a handful of Canadian bills on the counter, which the would-be robber said she could keep. He then ran outside.

The man was described as white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and in his late 20s to early 40s. He was seen driving away in a white pickup, possibly a 1970s or 1980s Ford or Chevrolet.
