Patrons Need Shot Against Hepatitis A

Health officials recommend that diners who ate at the Rockford Bay Restaurant last month get immune globulin shots after a food handler there was diagnosed with hepatitis A.

Anyone who ate at the restaurant on Lake Coeur d’Alene on July 22-24 may have been exposed, Panhandle Health District officials said Tuesday. The immune globulin shots can prevent or reduce symptoms of the disease. No customers have been reported ill.

Panhandle Health will have a clinic from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at 2195 Ironwood Court in Coeur d’Alene for those who may have been exposed to the disease.

The Spokane Regional Health District will have a clinic for residents who ate at the Rockford Bay Restaurant from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday.

Symptoms of hepatitis A include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, aches, fever, dark urine, light stool and jaundice.
