Shooting Suspect Held In California

From Staff

A Merced, Calif., man has been jailed on suspicion he was involved in a Spokane drive-by shooting.

Leng Hang, 19, was recently picked up by Merced authorities after a warrant for his arrest was issued in Spokane. He is being held in Merced on at least one charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Investigators believe Hang is the man who shot at five people July 18 in a drive-by shooting on Spokane’s South Hill.

A car pulled up next to another vehicle near the intersection of 13th and Ray about 4 a.m. that day and someone began firing a gun.

Three people were wounded, one seriously. Investigators suspect the shooting is gang related.
