Cord Suspected In House Fire

From Staff

A fire that destroyed a house on Spokane’s South Hill Monday was probably ignited by a faulty electrical cord, firefighters said.

The blaze consumed the ranch-style house at 5919 S. Crestline owned by Alex Mollaei, said Dan Blystone, division chief for Spokane County Fire District 8.

Neighbors using garden hoses saved a house next door that also was threatened by the flames.

Investigators believe a power cord running from the Mollaei house to the back yard swimming pool started the fire, Blystone said.

The cord is being sent to a laboratory for tests, he said.

No one was hurt in the blaze.
