Woman Assaulted, Robbed Downtown

A woman walking in downtown Spokane was assaulted and robbed Friday afternoon, police said.

A man ran out of an alley on Washington Street just north of Riverside Avenue and struck the woman in the face, she told police. He grabbed her checkbook, ran west through an alley and disappeared about 2 p.m.

The woman, who suffered a bloody nose, described the robber as a white male, 20-30 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, with shoulder-length black hair and strong body odor.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
