Spokane Golfers Advance
Three Spokane golfers, including two from Manito Golf and Country Club, advanced Wednesday to the quarterfinals of the Pacific Northwest Golf Association’s Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Manito’s Ryan Camp defeated Aaron Crandall 4 and 3, and Reid Hatley, also of Manito, ousted Michael Anderson 7 and 5. Matt Kodama, from Birdies Golf Center, defeated Brock MacKenzie 1-up.
Hayden Lake’s Dan Potter advanced with a 6 and 4 win, but Spokane Country Club’s David Fern lost to Clifton Stump 3 and 2.
The second round of match play will be held today, with the 36-hole finals scheduled for Saturday.
Spokane’s Lani Elston defeated Michelle Grafos, also of Spokane, 2 and 1 in the quarterfinals of the PNGA’s Junior Girls’ Amateur in Selah, Wash.
The semifinals will be played today with the finals set for Friday.
Spokane’s Mike Hastings fired an opening-round 77, but his 5-over-par total left him seven strokes off the lead in the American Junior Golf Association’s Colorado Junior Roundup at Westminster, Colo.
Spokane’s Corey Prugh finished with a first-round 79.
Bill Witte of Spokane shot 79 in the first round of the Maxfli PGA Junior Championship at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
