Stolen Car Returned, Men Jailed
The apparent theft of a classic car resulted in two arrests over the weekend, police said.
Officers received information that a 1959 Ford Fairlane had been stolen. One officer found the car in a Zip’s restaurant parking lot at Sprague and Lee about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.
The officer watched the car and saw two men and two women leave the restaurant and go to the car. The women then turned and went back into the restaurant and the men walked away.
Police questioned the two males, and found that one of them had a set of keys to the Fairlane. Officers looked inside the car and found identification for one of the men, Cottam said.
Witnesses told police they saw the two suspects drive into the parking lot in the Fairlane.
Both denied stealing the car, Cottam said.
Arrested were Jody L. Boring, 25, who gave his address as 1510 E. Hartson, and Wesley M. Scott, 21, no address given.
Both were booked into jail on charges of first-degree possession of stolen property. The car, which officers said was in mint condition, was returned to its registered owner.

A 43-year-old resident of the South 21000 block of Mullenix told deputies someone had entered her unlocked enclosed front porch between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday and taken the food.
Deputies found no evidence at the scene. The husband moved the freezer into a locked trailer, deputies said.
Boy assaults another for bicycle
A 13-year-old boy assaulted a youngster riding his new bicycle in Grant Park on Friday, police said.
The boy demanded the other boy’s bike and, when he refused to turn it over, the boy punched him in the nose and rode away on the bike, Cottam said.
Police investigated and have the name of a 13-year-old suspect in the robbery, he said.
The bike is a 1998 black Mongoose BMX, valued at $250.
