Idaho Crappie Record
Fishing
Mendy Hoffman of Notus, Idaho, hooked the Idaho state record black crappie earlier this month at Fort Boise Wildlife Management Area, a state-maintained habitat area on the Snake River.
The fish weighed 3 pounds 1.9 ounces, which is more than 3 ounces heavier than the previous record caught in 1993 at Brownlee Reservoir.
Hoffman’s fish was 16 inches long and 14-1/8 inches in girth. She was using a bass jig on 6-pound test line.
Hoffman donated the crappie to the Idaho Fish and Game Department for public display.
