Two Men Arrested On Marijuana Charges
Spokane police arrested two men in separate incidents in which both men were accused of growing marijuana, a spokesman said.
Allen G. Baker, 37, was arrested after being stopped in his vehicle at 11 p.m. Aug. 11 at Euclid and Market. Police found a bag of marijuana, a cell phone and $400. At his home at 505 N. Marguerite, officers found the remains of marijuana plants, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.
Then, at 4 a.m. Aug. 12, police arrested Edward C. Harkness at his home at 2031 E. Glass. The 43-year-old Harkness held officers outside for an hour before allowing them in, Cottam said.
Officers found 31 marijuana plants, timers, fans and scales along with $3,000, he said.
Baker and Harkness were booked into jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver, he said.
Police said they also found several weapons at Harkness’ address, three of which were reported stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Boy arrested on assault charge
A 13-year-old Spokane boy was charged with assault after he shot another child with a BB rifle on Aug. 17.
The victim told Spokane police she was standing on the sidewalk in the 5400 block of North Morton at 7 p.m. She said several boys were across the street, and one had a BB rifle, Cottam said.
She said one boy aimed the weapon at her several times, and she ducked behind a parked car.
When she came out, the boy fired, and the pellet hit the girl in the forearm. It lodged under her skin and had to be removed at a medical clinic, he said.
Police interviewed the 13-year-old boy, then arrested him for third-degree assault. He was released to an adult at his home.
