Albertson’S Outgrows Boise Headquarters
Albertson’s Inc. has outgrown its corporate headquarters on ParkCenter Boulevard and is looking for more space.
But the food and drug chain has not decided yet whether to lease or buy additional space. It also could expand its existing headquarters to meet the need for more room.
“We’ve had that as a possibility for some time. We just haven’t decided to do it,” spokesman Mike Read said Wednesday.
The company said Aug. 3 that it plans to merge with American Stores Co. of Salt Lake City, which will make Albertson’s the nation’s largest supermarket chain with more than 2,400 stores nationwide.
Read said the search for more headquarters space is not related to the merger, but rather to previously announced store acquisitions and new-store construction.
The American Stores merger needs the approval of regulators and shareholders of both companies. It is expected to become final next year.
