‘I’Ve Weathered Many Storms’

Warren Hanson

COVER LETTER Warren Hanson (GOP)

Dear Washington State Voter:

I am applying for the position offered in this election year as one of your two U.S. Senators, the position occupied by Patty Murray. I have a chemical engineering degree from Oregon State University, have served our country in the National Guard, and as a Naval Officer.

I believe that I would be an excellent Senator, much different from the lawyers, educators, and business people. I have worked hard with my muscles and brain for 44 years. I have weathered many storms, both at sea and in life since the commercial salmon fishing business is having very hard times. I have taken up other jobs to make up for my losses, both as a janitor and as a longshoreman extra … something which I have not done for over 44 years. However, I am strong and healthy and can keep up with persons 20 to 30 years my junior.

I ran for the U. S. Senate in 1976 and 1994, receiving up to 40,000 votes while spending less than than $5,000 total. Then and now, I am a champion for a simplified tax plan, reducing illegal and legal immigration, protecting the environment (clean air, land, and water), and workfare replacing welfare.

Now I am questioning why we are expending so much of our resources trying to correct the world’s problems when we have so many challenges here in America. It is time to take better care of our American citizens and I would be a leader in this endeavor.
