Where’s the beef?
Now we know! Mark McGwire is on steroids. No wonder he’s got muscles on his muscles! But guess what!
Babe Ruth was too smart to use steroids. If he had used them he probably would have hit 105 home runs in one year.
No the Babe just ate good wholesome food, like hot dogs. (And lots of ‘em).

Thanks for the memories
It’s extremely difficult to express eight years of gratitude, but please let me give it a try. Tonight will be my final regular season home game behind the mike in Spokane and my thoughts and emotions I’m sure will be traveling through my head. They already are.
First off, I’d like to thank the Brett organization for taking a chance on me eight years ago by hiring me as their first hockey broadcaster despite the fact I didn’t have a hockey tape. I was hired with a baseball background and they hoped that I would grow into the hockey role. I eventually did and I’m very grateful.
I had three fine people to work with in my booth: the late Mike Karle, Dean Allen and Jay Stewart. My sincerest thanks go out to them for their insight during those 677 Chiefs broadcasts. Jay, the “baton” is now passed to you, and I know you’ll carry it proudly!
In both baseball and hockey, I’ve truly been blessed to work with top notch managers, players and coaches.
Working with Mike Babcock, Mike Pelino, Bryan Maxwell, Perry Shockey, Gary Braun, Brett Cox and Mike Fedorko was always fun and professional. As for the players, I can’t think of one I wouldn’t take for a son or a brother.
The Spokane Indians have had some wonderful leaders to work along side of: Gene Glynn, Ed Romero, Tim Flannery, Tye Waller, Al Pedrique, Bob Herold and the last two seasons the very successful Jeff Garber. The sky is the limit for Jeff! I’ve developed lasting friendships with several, including former pitching coach Fred Cambria. I wouldn’t trade these for any amount of money. The players, an absolute joy as at this level this “is” where they all have a story to tell and news is made.
My deepest thanks go out to the fans of Spokane for inviting me into your cars and homes up to 160 nights a year and especially the boosters of both the Chiefs and Indians for the many gifts, cards and such you’ve bestowed upon me. Thank you!
A special thank you goes out to my church family at Valley Open Bible for making me feel at home.
I may be moving to the Tri-Cities, but Spokane will always be my “home” in my heart. Craig West, broadcaster, Spokane Chiefs/Indians Liberty Lake, Wash.
