Moscow Girls Down Vikings
Courtney Goetz scored 21 points on Tuesday as Moscow defeated visiting Coeur d’Alene 59-39 in a Border League girls basketball game.
Moscow moved up to second place in the league at 3-1 and dropped the Vikings (2-1) into third. Lake City is on top at 2-0.
The four Washington schools in the league have yet to play.

Meghan Mellett added four assists for the Badgers, who led by at least nine points for all the second half. Kellogg’s Tabatha Poulson hit 2 of 3 3-pointers.

The 1998-99 basketball season is looking much better for the St. Michael’s boys than the 1997-98 season.
John Schindler scored 22 points as the Warriors opened their season Tuesday with a non-league win over visiting Mullan.
St. Michael’s finished 0-20 last year and had lost its previous 25 games. The Warriors’ last win was Jan. 18, 1997, against Columbia.

Amy Fitch hit three 3-pointers and Megan Yerxa made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 2 minutes for Ritzville. The Broncos are two-time defending State B champions.
SJE, the 1996 state champion, fell behind 16-4 but rallied within two points in the late going.
SJE won 38 consecutive games from 1995-97. The state record for girls’ B schools is 52 by Raymond from 1988-89.
