Nba, Players To Talk Thursday

As locked-out NBA players missed their second payday, deputy commissioner Russ Granik announced collective bargaining talks, on hold nearly two weeks, will resume Thursday in New York with “everything back on the table.”

Owners are again asking for a 50-50 split and the players are asking for 60 percent of revenues.

“We’re back where we started,” Granik said. “We agree we’re better off meeting than not meeting.”

Occasionally defiant but under control, Chris Webber took the stand in Upper Marlboro, Md., and denied striking a police officer and using marijuana before he was arrested on his way to a Washington Wizards practice in January.

“I had to go to work. It’s not the time or place,” Webber said when he asked if he had used drugs that day. “Not that any time is the time or place.”

Closing arguments are set for today.
