Chiefs’ Ference To Earn Shot At Team Canada

Brad Ference, as expected, will get a shot a redemption over the Christmas break.

The Spokane Chiefs defense man was chosen Wednesday to attend selection camp with Team Canada, prior to the World Junior Championships in Winnipeg.

The 19-year-old Ference was on the junior national team last year that failed to make the medal round after Canada had won five straight championships.

The tournament Dec. 26-Jan. 5 matches the top 19-and-under hockey players in the world. It may be Ference’s next chance to play. He was benched for Wednesday night’s WHL game against Kelowna.

Former Chiefs athletic therapist T.D. Forss, now at Mount Royal College, was named Team Canada’s trainer.
