Ewu Student Charged With Date Rape
An Eastern Washington University student has been charged with an oncampus acquaintance rape.
Charged with third-degree rape, Robert E. Hall Jr., 19, is accused of assaulting a 17-year-old female student in a dormitory room.
The incident occurred about 7 p.m. Nov. 2 in a third-floor room in Pearce Hall. Campus police arrested Hall on Monday, EWU spokeswoman Stephanie Pettit said.
The alleged victim says she repeatedly refused Hall’s sexual advances before the attack, according to documents filed in Spokane County Superior Court. Witnesses say Hall and the woman were friends.
Hall claims he and the woman had consensual sex.
Last month, prosecutors charged a 19-year-old man, Scott T. Close, with raping an EWU student in a separate alleged acquaintance rape.
The incident occurred Oct. 23 at an off-campus home. Alcohol was involved, police say.
