Man Jailed After Grocery Robbery
A Minnesota man who has been in town about five months made his first court appearance Friday on charges that he robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.
Police arrested Todd A. Martin, 23, on Thursday evening after he confessed to last month’s robbery of Jordan’s Grocery, a neighborhood store on North 15th Street, Capt. Carl Bergh said. Martin was being held at the Kootenai County Jail on the robbery charge.
A store clerk told police a man asked for two packs of cigarettes and “all your money” early on Nov. 14, according to police reports. The man pointed a pistol at the clerk.
The robber left the store with an undisclosed amount of money, but left behind a plastic grocery sack.
The clerk told police he had seen the man around the neighborhood several times before the robbery.
Police said Martin moved to Coeur d’Alene about five months ago, but has no permanent addresses.
