Man With Knife Robs Convenience Store

From Staff

A man armed with a 4-inch knife robbed a convenience store in northeast Spokane on Saturday, police said.

The man entered Jackpot FoodMart, 1918 N. Hamilton, at 4:45 p.m. and went into the bathroom. He came out and put a note on the counter, said the store owner, Amjad Munawar.

“The note said ‘Give me the money.’ He pulled the knife and he just walked out,” Munawar said.

The owner wouldn’t say how much was taken. No one was injured.

It was the second robbery at his three Spokane stores in 18 months, he said.

The robber seemed to have a problem speaking, Munawar said.

Police described the thief as Hispanic or Native American, between 30 and 35 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches, with an average build, dark hair and a mustache.
