Today’S Best Bets

Western Hockey League

Kamloops at Spokane

Time, site: 7 p.m., Spokane Arena

Radio: KXLY 920-AM.

Summary: The hottest team in the WHL, one of the hottest in junior hockey history, the Blazers are unbeaten (23-0-3) in their last 26 games, three shy of the league’s single-season record.

They hammered the second-best team in the West, the Tri-City Americans, 10-2 Wednesday night. The Blazers score 4.2 goals a game. Goalie Kenric Exner is on a league-record pace with a 1.62 goals-against average.

Coming off their most complete game of the season, a 6-0 win over a decent Swift Current Broncos team, the Chiefs show signs of revival.

College wrestling

Lassen at North Idaho

Time, site: 7:30, Christianson Gym, Coeur d’Alene.

Summary: The last five NJCAA titles have been won by NIC or Lassen - and last year they shared the crown. Both teams want to head into a holiday hiatus with a victory. Lassen won in Christianson Gym two years ago. “I expected us to struggle and it was probably the best dual meet we’ve had,” Lassen coach Rex Branum said. There are numerous swing weights, but keep an eye on 133, 141 and 178. NIC’s Troy Sabot (141) lost to Johnny Hurtado at a tournament. At 178, NIC’s Curtis Owen and Lewis Taylor split previous matches.
