Lake City tuned up for its big weekend by defeating Clarkston 66-49 in a Border League boys basketball game Wednesday at Clarkston.

J.J. Barlow hit five 3-pointers on his way to 19 points and Jeff Schuh scored 17 as the Timberwolves improved their league and overall record to 4-0.

West Valley and East Valley are a step behind LC in the league race, at 3-0. The Timberwolves travel to WV on Friday.

LC finished 24 of 63 from the floor while the Bantams were 14 of 31.

Rich Swan scored five quick points, including a 3-pointer, for a five-point lead with 1:30 left, and the Hornets held off the visiting Bulldogs.

Jon Simmons iced the win with two free throws with 30 seconds left. Inchelium’s Jacolby Simpson had nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

The teams combined for 46 fouls, 24 by the Hornets.
